Discerning Truth By Dr. Jason Lisle

At first glance, the book Discerning Truth: Exposing Errors in Evolutionary Arguments by Dr. Jason Lisle, may appear to be about the idea of creationism, but it is actually a book on logic.  Rather than explaining the theory of evolution and covering the proofs against evolutionary theories, this book simply goes over the basics of logic. The sub- titile might be a bit misleading.  This is simply a condensed logic text using the evolutionary theory as an example.  After reading this book, the reader will not be informed at all whatsoever about anything having to do with evolutionary theory or the errors of the theory of evolution. If you are looking for a book about to educate yourself about the main ideas or  proofs behind creationism, this is certainly not the book you are looking for.

This book may be good supplimental text for a student studying the field of logic.  It provides a good summary of various argumentative strategies and their errors and explanations of how they may be used.  For anyone studying for an exam in logic or even the LSAT perhaps, this book may be a useful tool.  The final chapters offer examples of various logical fallacies and it is up to the reader to identify the specific logical concept/ logical error behind each.  As a blogger for New Leaf publishers I recieved a copy of this book for review and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
